THE BEATLES White Album UK MONO COMPLETE + RARE SPACER EMI LABELS 1/1/1/1 MATRIX

The Beatles, Same (White Album).

1968 England pressed Apple Records 2 x mono LP set, PMC 7067/8.

Second press with "EMI" text to labels. Scarce issue which features original inner sleeves and all extras including the often missing paper spacer.

Issue Points:

  • Matrix numbers: 1 / 1 / 1 / 1

  • Mothers/Stampers in side order: MA 4 / GAT 26 / MM 1 / MD 5.

  • All labels feature "An E.M.I. Recording" text at the 9 o'clock position.

  • Original black paper inner sleeves.

  • Fully laminated top opening gatefold sleeve with visible flaps to inner left and right, sleeve numbered 0275761.

  • Poster.

  • Four colour photos of the band members.

  • Paper spacer divider.

Vinyl visually glossy with no obvious scratches or deep marks. Minimal hairline scuff marks. However there are some scattered areas from dots to patches of a kind of whitish patina which cannot be felt to the touch. Perhaps inherent in the press. The majority of this patina is to the D side. Spindle activity at label areas is very light.

Fractional run-in crackle to A side, not audible during track 1 which plays free of background noise. Quiet intro of A2 (Dear Prudence) displays occasional crackle and one isolated mid-level tick. This eases off around the centre of the track and the side plays a solid EX plus to near mint thereafter, with notably silent separator bands.

B1 plays with some minor crackle and a very few soft ticks. B2 similar but infrequent until near the end when there are a very few soft consecutive ticks which lead just fractionally into B3 (Blackbird). This is sporadic, not continuous and well behind the music. Very soon after Blackbird starts the B side plays a solid EX plus to near mint with again notably silent separator bands. Being picky I heard one isolated really soft scuff at the end of the final track.

C side a couple of isolated ticks at first separator band. Else plays a strong EX with just a very few very short instances of low level and barely audible crackle, very unobtrusive. Notably, where applicable, separator bands are noise free. Just a couple of barely perceptible ticks and fraction of barely audible crackle near end of final track.

Side D some occasional low level crackle D1. A mid-level tick at the first separator band. Some minor crackle and an instance of three soft to mid-level and a little later two soft to mid-level ticks to the beginning of D2 (Honey Pie). Track soon clears up to play EX until three mid-level ticks and two much quieter ones soon after the beginning of D4 (Cry Baby Cry). Some minor low level crackle to the beginning of D5 (Revolution 9) and a very few soft ticks later on in the track. Approx. ten softish scuddy type consecutive ticks right at the end of the track. Some very low level crackle to the final separator band strays just a tad into the final track (Good Night). Else final track plays VG plus with just a hint of very low level background crackle.

    Labels are clean and unmarked.

Poster, four photos and spacer all EX. Poster has not been displayed and it seems likely that the contents have been contained within the sleeve most of the time. There is just a fractional handling crease to the top right of the Lennon photo. Else none of the extras have been caught in the sleeve and been unduly creased as so often happens.

Inner sleeves are free of splits. Creasing at corners and around the disc outlines. One sleeve has a few tiny closed nick at top rear edge. The other has some more severe nicking and creasing at top rear edge, including some small areas of loss.

External sleeve not perfect but far better than most extant issues. Main panels still have a nice white gleam. Just a fraction of ringwear impression. Some light hairline impressions and scrapes visible when the sleeve is rotated in view but not really obtrusive in general usage. Else no surface loss, stickers, stains etc. A couple of minor pinch line creases lead into main panels from spine area. Inner of gatefold is clean, bright and without damage. Spine is intact but has darkened and creased along the natural central fold line. An approx. one inch area of surface laminate splitting at spine just above the halfway line. Closed edges are not worn or scuffed. Entry side is crisp and not feathered, a few extremely minor dings. Tips have just the most minor of rubbing wear.
