Description
On offer an original copy of 'With The Beatles' on UK Parlophone. Its a stereo edition and the sleeve is EX with nice square corners. There are 3 thumbnail creases near Ringo and Paul's heads, some small horizontal creases at the spine end. On the front and back the open end of the sleeve was covered in a strip of tape many moons ago, the tape has been removed but as you can see from the pics there is residue left. I think the tape was added to protect those sleeve edges and (bar the disclouration!) its done a good job. The sleeve is a mid sized stereo by Garrod and Lofthouse and the 'Gotta Hold On Me' sleeve error has not yet been corrected, so I'd guess mid to late 1964 manufacture. Back cover bar sleeve edge is very clean.
The record is a lovely clean EX, a few sleeve removal hairlines and no major marks. Played throughout its a great listen, lovely audio indeed - there is however a small scratch (about 7mm) across tracks 1 and 2 of side 2. Its not really audible on 'Roll Over Beethoven' but you can hear clicks between the tracks and during the first 30 seconds of 'Hold Me Tight', though again its not particularly noticeable. The LP is a joy to listen to and played on a fussy Technics deck too. Matrix numbers end with 2 on both sides.
Labels have light spindle traces on side 1, virtually none on side 2. Great clean labels, Jobette credit has been corrected. The original inner has no splits.
Overall a very decent example of this album.
