Description
Original Owner: Yellow Submarine, with Red-Line Cover: Here's my original first Capitol pressing copy of Yellow Submarine. It's a stereo LP, and I bought it when it first came out in 1969. This is Capitol Records # SW-153, and this number is shown on the rear cover, on the spine, and on the labels. The labels also have # SW1-153 and SW2-153 on the first and second sides, respectively. Similarly, the numbers SW1-153 and SW2-153 appear in the runout grooves of the first and second sides. See photos for details.
The other ways that you can tell that this copy is an original factory first pressing are:
1. RED LINES on the back of the cover 2. Pasted-on Rear Cover 3. NO Capitol and EMI Logos on the back cover under the Black Line.
As noted, I'm the original owner of this album, and it's been in dry, indoor storage since new. I took pretty good care of this copy when it was new, but it got played a number of times (not a whole lot). There are minor marks of having been played, and I made a note to myself (45 years ago or more) that therewas a slight scratch at the end of "All Together Now" that would be OK with increased phono cartridge tracking force. Looking at the record now, I don't see any defect. It's also true that I used to go for a very light 0.5 to 1.0 gram tracking force - so maybe either that or a small piece of dirt in the groove was the problem. Don't have a turntable hooked up anymore, so I've no way to experiment with it. The outer cover is in OK-used condition - see photos. Hopefully you'll enjoy adding this copy to your collection.
