Description

ATTENTION international bidders!
Please understand that altering the final price of online purchases to avoid customs fees is illegal.  Every order is processed digitally, the shipping label affixed to the package will show the exact cost of the item.  I am an honest seller and cannot alter the amount, so please do not ask me to do so. RECORD packaging & shipping!
I provide ample padding in each package to prevent shifting during the shipping process. I also use industry-standard shipping boxes which are specifically designed for shipping records. Records are shipped outside their sleeves (if a sleeve is included) and covers to prevent damage during transit.

Goldmine Standard Grading:

SS / NM- / VG++ / VG+ / VG / G+ / G / P
I grade conservatively, please see my grading scale below the record description for more details.

Here's a rare one... a third state peel of the highly sought after Butcher cover - The Beatles' "Yesterday and Today" album from 1966. This one hasn't been 'retouched' or had any attempts at repair after the peel, it still represents the story of this epic album.  Please read on concerning the details of both the record and the cover.

Vinyl:  VG+ to VG++ (plays nice!)
Record has a nice shine and playback is very very enjoyable.  Feel free to check out the samples below - one clip from each side of the record. A nice, rather clean copy here that does have some light scuffs and light marks but still retains great playback.  Matrix numbers are included in the pictures.

This is a visual grade as well as a complete play grade.  Again, please feel free to check the sound clips below!

Cover / Sleeve:
The cover looks exactly as the pictures show.  The peel wasn't obviously not professional - the result is decent although the print has lifted in some areas and has tears in others.  The story goes that this one was from the son of the original owner - the original owner had peeled this one himself.  The cover is still in one piece but there are splits at the mid-spine and near the top edge at the mouth.  Bottom is still together although there is edge wear there as well.  Top corner at mouth has the print bowed and separated from the chipboard beneath a bit.

I always try to display my records to the best of my ability.  In this case, I took many pictures from all sides to give everyone the absolute best idea possible.  The pictures do a great job of displaying the condition of the album.  I wanted to skip applying a specific grade to the cover as its such a rare piece of Beatles history - condition is subjective.  I've owned several Butchers in my day, I was going to keep this one but I've got my eye on some more records so I'm going to let this one go to someone who has been looking for a true third-state peel.

Placing this cover up to a standard album cover, one quickly notices it is 1/8th inch narrower from spine to mouth - just as it should be.  This one's from pressing plant 6, out of Los Angeles I believe.   The inner sleeve is a '64 sleeve, this album came with a normal sleeve that had wear.  I don't have a '66 sleeve in my arsenal, so I figured this orange sleeve was at least close!  The sleeve is in nice condition as the pictures show.

Also, no attempts at 'retouching' the cover have been made from my inspection.  The cover has that matte look.  There are no obvious signs of airbrushing or pen retouches.  Nice to see that the original owner had the presence of mind to not attempt any further 'improvements' on this classic album.

Please inspect the pictures well for something I may have missed mentioning. I've enjoyed the record while I've owned it, its time to let it go to make room for more acquisitions. I try to be conservative when grading, I hope my description was sufficient.

Thanks for looking!
Mike

Goldmine Grading Details
SS = Still Sealed
any defects will be listed and/or photographed to complete the description

NM- = Near Mint Minus
just short of absolutely perfect
acceptable defects would include a hairline mark not detectable to the touch and not affecting playback, background noise is nearly silent

VG++ = Very Good Plus Plus
most records I will list fall under this grade, just short of NM- but may have a mark or contact wear to the label to grade it slightly lower, maybe a drill hole or cut, maybe a mark or name written on the label lightly, sound is still great, loud and near perfect, cover may have slight edge or corner wear, maybe slight ring wear

VG+ = Very Good Plus
a great record, sound is high quality though may have a few pops or clicks, overall very nice looking vinyl possibly with light marks & scuffs, labels may have a name or mark on them, possible light contact wear to the label, covers may have a small split but not large or gaping, edge wear on cover may show more than slight, may be a mark on cover

VG = Very Good
only records I will list with this grade would be rather rare or of higher book value, meant to sell as a filler until a better record comes along, vinyl may have feelable marks but should play through without skipping, pops or clicks may be louder than usual, may have marks or wear on the label, cover may have open splits, wear on print, may have marks or other very apparent defects (all will be stated in description either by type or in the pictures)
