"Yesterday...and Today" is a great Beatles album, although once again Capitol Records released a mish-mash of songs. Some that were left off previous releases, some from what would be their next album. It was a practice that infuriated the band, and after "Revolver" it would not happen again. This release includes two songs from the UK version of "Help!", "Yesterday" and "Act Naturally". From "Rubber Soul" came "Nowhere Man", "What Goes On", "If I Needed Someone" and the hit "Drive My Car". "Day Tripper" and "We Can Work It Out" were the A and B sides of a December '65 single. And from the not yet released "Revolver" album came "I'm Only Sleeping", "Doctor Robert" and "And Your Bird Can Sing". It can certainly be considered a compilation. But a very good one almost 60 years later.
