Description

Offered is this shrink-wrap sealed US copy of the Something New by the Beatles album, Capitol ST-2108. On the front is a price sticker, a "Stereo" sticker, and a round purple sticker (probably put there by the record store which sold it). All of these are outside the shrink wrap.

Without actually seeing the record, the following evidence indicates that this is a first pressing.  The RIAA logo has the number 3 next to it (which indicates manufacture at the Scranton PA factory between 1963 and 1969). Clearly visible is the edge of the turquoise blue inner sleeve, which was only used between mid-1964 and late-1964. Late in 1964, they switched over to the orange "Teen Set" sleeve.

There are four "breather holes" in the shrink wrap. On the front, one is partly under the "Stereo" sticker, and the other is between George's and Paul's guitars (5th picture). The others are on the back.

The following issues with the cover are noted:
The lower left corner, as viewed from the back, has a water stain (about 1-1/2 inches wide and 1/2 inch high) and  a crease about 4-1/2 inches long.  The stain is visible from the front, but is much less obvious. The crease is not obvious from the front. The shrink at that corner is torn and the corner retains a slight bend. The last 3 pictures show this damage.
The upper left corner, as viewed from the back, has a slight bruise and bend, but no crease.
The lower right corner, where the RIAA logo is, also has some slight creasing (see the 9th picture), and a small wrinkle seen from the front.
The remaining corner is fine.
Along the top edge, as viewed from the back, are some small punctures to the shrink and some spotting to the cover inside (see the 7th and 8th pictures).  No corresponding problem is seen from the front.
Overall, there is minor wear, scuffs, scratches to the shrink covering, and some tiny punctures, but nothing serious. There are no seam splits visible, and I seen no reason to suspect that the record inside is warped.

Though not perfect, this album presents well, and would be at home in any quality Beatles or general record collection. This is the second of 4 sealed Beatles albums that I purchased as a lot 25-30 years ago, and all came from the same store based on the stickers that were used.

This will be shipped in a Bags Unlimited "Mighty Music Mailer", which gives outstanding protection especially to the corners.

This is an auction, I am not taking offers. It will sell to the highest bidder at the end of one week. No returns if the record is opened.

Thank you for looking and good luck!
