THE CHEYNES: Goin' To The River/Cheyne-Re-La (1964 UK Columbia DB 7368)
For auction a copy of the astonishingly rare mod beat stomper from The Cheynes in MINT MINUS condition.
The Cheynes featured both Mick Fleetwood and Pete Bardens (Them, Camel) who poured their young mod hearts out into this tearaway groove. Fleetwood is in particularly wild style on the totally happening B Side "Cheyne Re-La". This really IS the sound of 64.
That it should have survived in such condition these last 55 YEARS is truly astounding.
The vinyl is clean, dark and glossy. There are no scratches, digs or scuffs. Under the strongest light I can see one very faint, very short hairline which was probably there the day it left the pressing plant. The labels are as good as the day it arrived at the record shop, deep Columbia black and bold silver - no rips, no writing. Even the records original birth bag is smart, crisp and unfaded EMI print.
On the rare occasions copies of this do surface they are never in such magnificent shape. This one is.
