Description

The Clash London Calling Vinyl Double L.P. Record First Pressing with Lyric sheet inserts - Good

  • The Clash London Calling - rare vinyl record CBS double L.P.
  • White label edition earliest worldwide UK first pressing with year of release 1979.
  • Many have said London Calling is one of the best records ever made and a double album to boot...  Check Wikipedia - London Calling - very well placed in numerous best/greatest records of all time lists.
  • A must have for every vinyl collection. This simply has to heard on vinyl as originally released.
  • Vinyl and cover sleeve both are good as illustrated. Plays great overall: full condition details below.
  • Paypal payment only.
  • Increasingly difficult to find original genuine early Clash music memorabilia like this  - so don't miss out!
  • Please note detailed condition report below before bidding thank you.
Dimensions: standard lengths, and specifications, details on request. Condition: Items are functional, but are second hand and as such may, on close examination, display acceptable signs of wear and tear through use.  We are not record dealers but would advise the following: On comparison with records purchased for our collection and graded by record dealers - the  front sleeve is very good +  rear is good due to some staining spots. Spine edge is excellent and sharp. Top and bottom edges are very good with a little wear. Soft corner wear and to opening corners and light feathering wear to sleeve opening sides.Inserts are complete and good. They consist of one printed lyric sheet and one printed lyric sheet on fairly thick card inner sleeve. The inner sleeve has age yellowed and the lyric sheet has creasing to one side with slight staining. The individual vinyl sides look very good overall with some sides perhaps better. There are light scrapes and scuffs to vinyl in places but non appears audible on playback.  Playback: All four sides have been played on our demanding turntable cartridge combination and for the most part the sound is excellent and engaging. There is some low surface noise crackle between some tracks and noise at disc start and finish as might be expected but this does not effect listening pleasure in our view. Eighteen out of nineteen tracks play great for us. Unfortunately, our stylus cartridge combination sticks in the middle of just one track the last on side one. The vinyl looks okay and therefore you may be lucky and it may play through without sticking on another turntable cartridge combination or even benefit from a professional clean? However we offer no guarantees or promises here...  Note: (i) The owner of this original LP set assured us that on his budget turntable (now long gone) all tracks played perfectly or he would have taken the disc straight back to the shop... In addition, the two odd different types of lyric sleeve/sheet are exactly as found purchased from new way back in 1979. Note: (ii) Track 19 the last track on side 4 is not indicated on the sleeve or label but the title is etched Track 5 is "Train in Vain" onto the vinyl of the run out groove.
