THE COMBUSTIBLES Watch Her b/w Some Peace Of Mind (Polydor) RARE India 1st Pressing EX
RARE original Indian first pressing of The Combustibles` single "Watch Her" b/w "Some Peace Of Mind" on Polydor Records (1970).
Although recorded in 1970, this single is a sonic throwback to the beat era, circa late 1965. As the band explain on their website, the "sixties" sound on their famous single was due to intervention by a Bombay studio executive who took issue with The Combustibles`"heavy", fuzz-laden sound. The result was the "de-fuzzed" version everybody knows and which the band had actually executed with "limited enthusiasm"! Nevertheless, "Watch Her" b/w "Some Peace Of Mind" is The Combustibles` entry into the Indian psych-beat canon. This has not limited the single`s appeal as a highly collectable relic of Indian psych-beat at all!
GRADING:
EX SLEEVE in very good condition for its age and origin. Please see photos for details.
- Original stock sleeve from original store of purchase in Bombay!
- A few minuscule tears/incisions to opening edge.
- Also includes an extra custom-printed German Polydor sleeve.
VG+ RECORD in very passable overall condition.
- Fine audio reproduction throughout.
- Six or seven tiny nicks to the edge of the vinyl.
- Fair amount of crackle in run-in, as well as in the run-off.
- The single has significant hairlining to both sides; however, absolutely no scratches or pops whatsoever!
- Bright red Polydor Records labels with a few small humidity spots, but no visible spindle wear at all.
