 Hey Stoner Heads Heads,

ich sortiere gerade meine Vinyl-Sammlung und habe die ein oder andere doppelte Vinyl Scheibe über. Hier die limiterte und handnummerierte (252/1000) E.P. von der amerikanischen Kult-Stoner-Band THE COMPANY BAND, mit dem Titel PROS & CONS, als Erstpressung mit geätzter/etched B-Seite, auf dem Label WEATHERMAKER MUSIC, aus dem Jahr 2012, komplett mit Insert. Sie ist natürlich restlos vergriffen. Einzelheiten: siehe Fotos. Die LP befindet sich in einem Top gebrauchten Zustand (Cover NM, noch in Folie, Vinyl NM) und stammt aus meiner privaten Sammlung (Archiv). Gerne SELBSTABHOLUNG IN OWL.

Bei der Formation handelt es sich u. a. um CKY Drummer Jess Magera, Fu Manchu's Brad Davis und Neil Fallon von Clutch. Die EP "Pros & Cons" klingt sehr klasse. Man hört ganz klar die Stoner Einflüsse, aber das schöne ist an dieser Band, dass hier der groovige Rock'n'Roll Faktor ganz vorne steht. Der Opener "House Of Capricorn" könnte auch von Clutch stammen, während der Rock'n'Roller "Black Light Fever" sehr geschmeidig aus den Boxen kommt.

Neil Fallon ist schon ein begnadeter Sänger, der den Songs so ein Zwischending aus kantigem Rock'n'Roll Gesang und groovigen, teils dumpfen Gesang verleiht. Das kann man gut hören zwischen den Songs "Kill Screen" und dem Groover "Loc Nar". Ein Klassiker könnte "El Dorado" werden, falls es die Band schafft diesen Titel bekannt zu machen. Ich weiß gar nicht wie ich es beschreiben soll. ich würde mal ganz vorsichtig so ran gehen: Eine Prise Blues (so ähnlich wie "Night Prowler" von AC/DC), etwas Stoner Rock, eine super kernige Stimme und Rock'n'Roll.

Diese EP von The Company Band ist super gelungen und man hat Appetit auf mehr. Da ja die Bandmitglieder auch bei anderen Bands beschäftigt sind, denke ich aber, dass es wohl dauern wird, bis man weiter neues Material von The Company Band bekommt. Eine lohnenswerte Anschaffung ist dies EP auf jeden Fall.

Since The Company Band first got together in 2006, the group has solely existed through semi-annual corporate retreats. Featuring vocalist Neil Fallon from Clutch, drummer Jess Margera from CKY, guitarist/vocalist Jim Rota from Fireball Ministry, bassist Brad Davis from Fu Manchu and guitarist Dave Bone Pros & Cons marks a new partnership with Clutch's own Weathermaker Music label. Since the beginning, the group has rarely surfaced to show their hand. In 2007 it was the Sign Here, Here and Here EP. In 2009 it was The Company Band album along with the It's A Confusing World/Not Fragile single. And after a recent retreat at a beach house in Venice, the group have a new five song EP ready entitled Pros & Cons . 'The music on this record is our most platinum influenced. Early 80's hard rock and classic metal. Bands like AC/DC, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and some Aerosmith. But it's become a melting pot. This is the stuff where we really found our sound,' says Dave Bone. Jim Rota goes on to describe: 'It's like that point in life when you finally say, I'm trading in the Kawasaki and going full Harley. We went full Harley on this one.'
