The Corporation formed in 1968 at the Galaxy Club, located in Cudahy, WI, a southeastern suburb of Milwaukee. Some months later, they were discovered by Capitol Records executives while playing at another local club called The Bastille. Members included Kenneth Berdoll (bass, vocals), Patrick McCarthy (organ, trombone), Daniel Pell (vocals), Gerard Smth (lead guitar, vocals) and brothers John Kondos (guitar, flute, harp, piano, vocals) and Nicholas Kondos (drums, vocals).

Their first, self-titled LP was released in early 1969 and contains some great musicianship and original melodies. Highlights on the album include 'Ring That Bell', 'Smile' and the 19½ minute psychedelicized version of the John Coltrane instrumental 'India'. Although the album was a smash on the local Milwaukee charts, peaking at #3, it only reached #197 nationally. Even though the record ended up not being a huge commercial success, the band continued to write and record with hopes of a follow up LP on Capitol. When that deal fell through, they released two LPs ('Hassles In My Mind' and 'Get On Our Swing') in 1970 on Age Of Aquarius, a Cuca customer label.

The LP came out around the same time as Quicksilver's Happy Trails, also released by Capitol Records (black & rainbow label). I remember hearing it on Philadelphia undergound radio (what ever HAPPENED to FM radio?)....
I don't think I ever listened to Side 1 more than a few time, but India is a bloody masterpiece. It took up the entire second side of the LP, borrowing a John Coltrane melody (they spelled his name wrong on the back of the LP!!) and transforming it into a psych-prog rock mindtrip, best served up with incense and a black light. Actually, the music really holds up - it does not sound dated, but maybe I'm a bit biased.

Note to US Customers:

I am shipping from Hawaii. Ebay now requires that dealers offer Media Mail as first option for shipping LP's and then say that it takes 2-9 Business Days.

Please be aware that Media Mail from Hawaii to the mainland takes 3-5 weeks versus 3-5 days for priority mail.  

Media Mail is Surface Mail, it doesn't get on a plane -- so what that means is it goes in a container, waits for the container to fill up, then is put on a ship across the Pacific where it arrives in Oakland and then is put on a truck. Also Media Mail is subject to being opened (this is rubber stamped on each package) so the Post Office can make sure that it doesn't contain items that are not included in Media Mail acceptable items (books, records, video, cd's).

(I strongly recommend using Priority Mail, I recently had a customer in Florida who didn't receive his order for 8 weeks after I mailed it via Media Mail -- the post office hasn't lost one yet, so it is safe, but can be very slow and I would guess that as Christmas nears it can only get worse)
