THE DANGS – LIL’ GIRL / LINDA LU (R.B.P. R-101) (VG/VG+)
This is a total mystery group possibly from California. There is really no viable info available about The Dangs at all and my best guess would be that this recording is circa 65/66, and Linda Lu features a seriously classic garage-rockabilly guitar solo. The vocals on this song are extremely entertaining with the vocalist at points singing so fast that he sounds like an auctioneer! The flip side, Lil’ Girl, is a great melancholy minor key folk ballad, also with great 12-string guitar and vocals. This 45 is quite rare, essentially unknown, and I found it in the very bottom of one of my boxes, so it eluded inclusion on any of the U-SPACES comps. R.P.B. Records is a complete mystery as well. One side is credited to R. Adair and the other is penned by Sharp. If anyone has any additional info about this recording, please contact me. This copy is in decent shape, graded VG/VG+. The beginning of Lil’ Girl has a few audible pops and Linda Lu plays as VG++. Check out the scans and audio samples.
