Here is an EXCELLENT copy of The Desperate Bicycles' very rare release on their own Refill Records label.  The record dates from 1977 with the catalogue number RR1.  It is unusual in that both tracks are on each side of the record and it's in mono.  The sleeve is in excellent condition with only a few creases and has survived very well from being very thin paper.

From Dalston in East London the Desperate Bicycles formed during March 1977, and were one of the first bands to seriously undertake the DIY recording ethic that punk had started.  The band formed the Refill label in May 1977 and released their first single, Smokescreen/Handlebars for the mighty sum of £153 for 500 copies and recorded in 3 hours. They repeated this six months later with The Medium Was The Tedium/Don't Back The Front (Refill July 77) this time pressing 1000 copies.  New Cross New Cross a six track EP was released in May 78 Holidays/Housewife Song/Cars/(I Make The) Product/ Paradise Lost/Advice (On Arrest).  One more -Occupied Territory/Skill (Refill July 1978).   While never troubling the charts each release self financed the next and by 1980 they had managed 6 singles.  Big John Peel favourites.

The record has some light surface noise, as you would expect, and plays very well with no clicks or jumps, just some minor crackles and I would grade it EXCELLENT.  The sleeve is also Excellent.

All records posted in strong cardboard mailers with stiffners and sent recorded delivery for my piece of mind
