THE DOORS COMPLETE 50TH ANNIVERSARY EDITIONS - THIS IS OUR ONE AND ONLY COMPLETE SET FOREVER

WAITING FOR THE SUN TREMENDOUSLY RARE 50th Anniversary Deluxe Numbered, Limited Edition 180g 33 & 1/3 LP & 2CD Set!

Remastered Audio + 14 Unreleased Studio & Live Recordings!

The Doors released their third studio album, Waiting For The Sun, in July 1968. It was the band's third platinum album in less than two years, and the first to top the album chart. Since its debut, the album has sold millions of copies around the globe and contributed to the Doors' legendary canon, including the #1 smash, "Hello, I Love You".

To commemorate the 50th anniversary The Doors release WAITING FOR THE SUN: 50th ANNIVERSARY DELUXE EDITION. This 2-CD/1-LP collection features a new version of the album's original stereo mix on both CD and 180-gram vinyl LP, which has been newly remastered from the original master tapes by Bruce Botnick, the Doors' longtime engineer/mixer. The set also includes a second disc of 14 completely unreleased tracks: nine recently discovered "rough mixes" from the album recording sessions and five live songs from a September 17, 1968 Copenhagen show.

While going through his archive, Bruce Botnick uncovered a cache of rough mixes from the sessions that hadn't been played in 50 years. Botnick says: "I prefer some of these rough mixes to the finals, as they represent all of the elements and additional background vocals, different sensibilities on balances, and some intangible roughness, all of which are quite attractive and refreshing."

When the Doors recorded Waiting For The Sun in 1968, they were among the first bands to use Dolby A301 noise reduction processors, which was cutting-edge recording tech at the time. Similarly, the most advanced sound recording innovations were used to make the anniversary edition of Waiting For The Sun. The CD in this set has been encoded with the MQA process (Master Quality Authenticated). This is fully compatible with standard CD players. When connected to an MQA enabled device it will play the same disc in hi-res 176kHz/24 bit.

MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) has offered to us music lovers a way to listen to our favorite tunes in a manner that was intended by the original recording artists, without the limitations of file sizes previously described. Using a manner of "folding" the music files like origami, MQA is able to take the original analog recording resolution, and deliver it in a smaller file. Once that file gets processed through an MQA encoder (more on that in a bit), it then "unfolds" the file back to its fullest and highest resolution, thus providing us with a very similar resolution to what was produced in the recording studio. Granted, your playback quality will ultimately be determined by the system you have, but at least you’re working with a file that should at least in theory, mimic that of the original recording.

The Doors The Soft Parade (50th Anniversary) Numbered, Limited Edition 180 GRAM LP & 3CD Set

Numbered, Limited Edition!

50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition 3CD & 180g Vinyl LP Set!

Remastered by Bruce Botnick!

TAS Rated 3.5/5 Music, 4/5 Sonics in the May/June 2020 Issue of The Absolute Sound!

One Of TAS' Ten Best Rock Albums of 2020!

Newly expanded 3CD/1LP set that includes the original studio album and the B-side Who Scared You newly remastered by Bruce Botnick, The Doors longtime engineer and mixer. The collection is a limited edition of individually numbered copies and also includes the original album on 180-gram vinyl along with liner notes by noted rock journalist David Fricke.

The core of the collection is comprised of more than a dozen unreleased songs. Among the highlights are stripped down Doors Only versions of five tracks where the horns and strings have been removed (Tell All The People, Touch Me, Wishful Sinful, Runnin’ Blue, and Who Scared You.) The set also features three of those stripped-back versions with new guitar parts added by Robby Krieger (“Touch Me,” “Wishful Sinful,” and Runnin Blue).

The collection also uncovers three songs from studio rehearsals – with Ray Manzarek (a.k.a. Screamin’ Ray Daniels) on vocals – that include an early version of “Roadhouse Blues, a song that would be released the following year on Morrison Hotel. These three songs include newly recorded bass parts by Robert DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots, who joined Krieger and John Densmore at a tribute concert for Manzarek in 2016, three years after the organist died of cancer.

A trio of studio outtakes collected on the set’s final disc feature the much-bootlegged, hour-long jam, Rock Is Dead, which appears here in its entire, surviving form for the first time ever. The track finds The Doors riffing through the entire history of rock ’n’ roll, from early delta blues through surf music, ending with the death of rock.

The strings and horns never bothered me, but the remixes do have a gritty charm that spotlights the band's playing. Also featured is an early version of 'Roadhouse Blues,' sung by Manzarek, and the rambling hour-long jam 'Rock Is Dead.' The digital tracks are encoded for MQA-capable players and bring an extra sparkle to the proceedings. Overall, a welcome addition to Rhino's ongoing and reverential reissue series.

The Doors L.A. Woman 50th Anniversary Deluxe Numbered Limited Edition 180 GRAM LP & 3CD

50th Anniversary Numbered, Limited Edition 180g LP & 3CD Set!

Original Album Newly Remastered By Bruce Botnick!

More Than Two Hours Of Unreleased Recordings!

The Doors found their mojo (and Mr. Mojo Risin') in November 1970 as they recorded L.A. Woman over six days at the Workshop, the band's rehearsal space on Santa Monica Boulevard. A success both critically and commercially, the album was certified double-platinum and contains some of the band's most enduring music, including the Top 20 hit "Love Her Madly," "Riders On The Storm," and the title track.

To commemorate the album's 50-year anniversary, Rhino keeps on risin' with a 3-CD/1-LP set. L.A. Woman: 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition includes the original album newly remastered by The Doors' longtime engineer and mixer, Bruce Botnick, two bonus discs of unreleased studio outtakes, and the stereo mix of the original album on 180-gram virgin vinyl. The music will also be available from digital and streaming services the same day, as will a new Dolby Atmos mix of the original album by Botnick.

For this new collection, the original album has been expanded with more than two hours of unreleased recordings taken from the sessions for L.A. Woman, allowing the listener to experience the progression of each song as it developed in the studio. An early demo for "Hyacinth House," recorded at Robby Krieger's home studio in 1969, is also included.

The outtakes feature Jim Morrison, John Densmore, Robby Krieger, and Ray Manzarek working in the studio with two additional musicians. The first was rhythm guitarist Marc Benno, who worked with Leon Russell in The Asylum Choir. The other was bassist Jerry Scheff, who was a member of Elvis Presley's TCB band.

In the studio, Botnick says the band took a more organic approach to recording instead of starting and stopping repeatedly to achieve technical perfection. "The previously unreleased reels here - serial takes of 'The Changeling,' 'Love Her Madly,' 'Riders On The Storm,' and 'L.A. Woman' - depict a band obsessed with groove while executing turns and flourishes with the precision of a well-drilled soul combo...The idea was to go from song to song, to let it flow."

Among the outtakes of album tracks, you can also hear the band joyously ripping through the kinds of classic blues songs that Morrison once described as "original blues." There are great takes of Junior Parker's "Mystery Train," John Lee Hooker's "Crawling King Snake," Big Joe Williams' "Baby Please Don't Go," and "Get Out Of My Life Woman," Lee Dorsey's funky 1966 classic, written by his producer Allen Toussaint.

In the collection's extensive liner notes, veteran rock journalist David Fricke explores the whirlwind making of the album, which would be the last with Morrison, who died in Paris a few months after its release. "Morrison may never have come back to The Doors," he writes. "But with his death, L.A. Woman became rebirth, achievement, and finale, all at once. It's the blues too - original blues, as Morrison promised. Fifty years later, there is still nothing like it."
