THE DOORS S/T 1967 RARE EARLIEST MONARCH STEREO 1ST PRESS MISPRINT NEAR MINT.
Up for sale is a super rare Monarch stereo 1st pressing of the Doors’ first album. This is the rare early version of the Monarch pressing, with the FIRST stampers, before a recut was done on side two, using a LIDO tape instead of the original master.
This is the ONLY pressing known to use the original master tapes on both sides without compression. This is proven by the early matrix:

Side two was quickly recut after 2 weeks of production to boost the noise floor on “The End”, compressing the entirety of side 2. Not on this copy!
In addition, these are the earliest labels: the “Oher Side” misprint is present which was quickly spotted and removed, along with the incorrect publisher for “Alabama Song” which is here Witmark instead of Harms Co. on later pressings. The labels are in pristine condition, with NO SPINDLE WEAR.
VISUAL GRADE: The vinyl itself is in magnificent condition, with all the original gloss and sheen present. It is near perfect, with just 2 or 3 tiny superficial marks present. Visually I would grade this as NEAR MINT.
The record comes with the original Elektra inner sleeve in excellent condition with no yellowing as is common on Elektra sleeves.
The cover is superb. There is very slight ringwear on the front if you look closely. The spine is not crushed and fully legible. This is probably the most authentic cover of this album I have owned, as most used more of a brown colour for the black surrounding the band member, whereas this early pressing uses super thick card stock and the black is in flack pitch black. I would grade this cover an 8.5/10.
