I am listing a collection of Rare and Collectable Northern / Modern Soul 45's This one is:-
THE DORELLS - THE BEATING OF MY HEART / MAYBE BABY - G.E.L. 4401
It is said that the Northern Soul sound was created by writers, producers and artists trying to copy the Motown Sound. They do not come any more blatant than this top side Girl Group offering out of Washington D.C. Here they have tried to recreate that Martha & The Vandellas vibe, not a bad effort but it ain't Motown!!! Personally I prefer the moody flip side a real corker!
As you all know some records look mint and sound bad and some look awful but sound great so I have attached a link to the actual record so that you can hear how it sounds before you bid. I have left a bit of the run in on these sound clips so that you can hear the crackles before the music drowns them out. These sound clips have not been cleaned up in anyway, what you hear is what you get.
