Description
Rare copy of the 7" single 'Be My Baby / The Clique' by Manchester Punk Rock group The Drones. There is some debate about this single - one version is that it was prepared by their record label, Valer Records, for release in 1977 at the same time as their album, 'Further Temptations', but it was withdrawn because the wrong versions of the tracks had been used and the label included the wrong song-writing details (credited to the band themselves rather than Phil Spector.) So, in the end, only 200 copies of the single survived, which were subsequently sold by the band members when they reformed in 1996. (The story also continues that the original 200 copies can be identified as they have 'anti-slip' grooves pressed around the label - which this copy does have...) the second version of the story suggests that only a 12" white label promo of the single was originally pressed in 1977 (this much is true) and the 7" version wasn't pressed until the Nineties... I really don't know which version of the story is true, but the single itself was certainly only pressed in a very small amount and remains pretty scarce. Featuring different versions of the tracks to those found on the album, it's a great record either way.
Vinyl and insert are both in very good condition - refund available if not satisfied with condition as stated.
