THE EMERALD DAWN - TO TOUCH THE SKY - LTD EDITION OF 200 - NEW

To Touch the Sky, released in March 2021, is their fourth effort and their first I got my paws on.
It contains just three tracks in almost 49 minutes.
The first one is called "The Awakening" (11:15 minutes) and starts somehow ominous, before it evolves into an early 80's mixture of Japan and Cocteau Twins. Then, after about five minutes, a dark guitar takes care of a new structure. The keyboards become more and more tuneful and finally float along ethereally.
The beginning of "And I Stood Transfixed" (15:07) is so utterly floydish, that you only can smile. The time is 1975, and the examples involved of course are "Welcome to the Machine" and "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" (the saxophone!).
After four minutes it changes into a peaceful Progressive Rock mood, as if Camel would have made another record in the way of their most legendary albums Mirage, The Snow Goose and especially Moonmadness. Utterly beautiful.
So there certainly is no chance to improve. Or is it?
"The Ascent" (22:17) is a journey into the Symphonic Prog world of Renaissance and, once again, Camel. Without the slightest shadow of a doubt this is one of the greatest 20+ minutes pieces I ever had the pleasure to witness. Otherworldly, celestial, superb.
