The Fab

Not only did they get the title completely wrong, the rest of the lyrics had these guys baffled too. They clearly had no idea what they were singing about and neither did they care. You got to love 'em for that. Super crude and frantic all the way through. This is about as basic or inept as you can get away with. This is genuine lo-fi, not the work of a bunch of over-privileged poseurs that are generally associated with today's lo-fi. Listen to those heavy reverberated drums, what a glorious Neanderthal sound! Fab! Fab! Fab! The original Kythera 45 (which is very rare, only 300 copies were pressed!) never came with a picture sleeve. The Op Art reissue is pressed on red vinyl. On the Kythera label the song is simply credited to (Them). One last detail on this bunch of wildmen, the picture on the back cover of the 'Trans-World Punk Rave-Up # 1' comp that's supposed to be The Fab is in reality a photo taken from the sole Belgian 45 ('Oh! Non' /'Mister Lincoln' - Decca VAR 12 - 1966) by The Somethings from France! OK, pretty wild looking gang in their own right (and equally great too!) but if you want to see a picture of The Fab buy the Op Art reissue. But wait, that's not all, the picture on the back cover of'Trans-World Punk Rave-Up # 2' is yet again not a picture of The Fab at all but a photo of The Bushmen from Italy (although members originaly came from such far away places as England, Kenia, India and Portugal!). The photo is taken from their 1966 single 'Jezebel' /'Uomo Perche' (Magic MC 002). C'mon Tim, what's going on here! Once again, if you want to see a picture of the real Fab... The B-side is a cover of the Chuck Berry tune, via The Downliners Sect version. The Fab were Gerard Visser (vocals) - Hans Visser (guitar) - Arie Hordijk (guitar) - Gerard Strotbaum (bass) ­ Richard Van Aalst (drums). Before they named themselves The Fab they were first known as The Shades, The Fab Five and later as Never Mind! Quite a moniker for 1965. Eat your hearts out Sex Pistols and Nirvana! Good(G)                 - A record that will play through without skipping, but has significant surface noise, scratches, and visible groove wear.

Bad( B )                  - A record with heavy damage, can skip.
