Description
PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us. Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over +21,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING: USA ~ 1 LP = $4.00 Media Priority rates vary by area; please inquire. - BIG BOOM! MONO '66 PRODUCTION
- Investment artifact, last one we had sold for $250+ in lesser condition - here's the *best* we ever located ~ Think Twice!!
- Getting exceedingly more RARE by each day onward...what we have here is the tiny local North Carolina 1966 vinyl pressing on highly collected JUSTICE RECORDS label. One of only probably 500 copies which the band sold at their club/school concerts, or handed out to friends. Existing available originals as stated are mighty hard to come by.

THE FUGITIVES
~ Now legendary among universal collectors of mid '60s garage rock obscurities ...on the Justice records label from Winston Salem Carolina who released some 20 or so teen-scene garage albums in the mid '60's, all approximately 500 or so pressings. - THE FUGITIVES
- Crude primitive basement-rock with off kilter amateur energy-- forever will remain containing the period charm in such teen-scene efforts.
Richmond Virginia's The Fugitives are one of the exceptions to record for the short-lived North Carolina-based label as they easily fit in the top-5 on the label in terms of talent and enthusiasm.
Lead vocalist Richard Donlavey and lead guitarist Mick Russell started the band while in high school. By the time they recorded their 1966 LP "On the Run with the Fugitives" the line up included Russell's older brothers/keyboard player Joe, as well as drummer Buster Byard and twins Jimmy (bass) and Tommy (rhythm guitar) Sickal. Given Justice was a vanity label, the band coughed up roughly $750 for four hours of studio time at Justice's Winston-Salem Studios. Their investment probably saw some 500 copies of their one and only album pressed, which helps explain the current (and rising) value on this rarity some 58 years onward.
So what makes this one worth trying to track down? Well, in musical terms it isn't radically different from most of the Justice label garage rock releases, though points being in the top 5 better on the label. The Fugitives were a bunch of white punk kids (average age 18) performing enthusiastic rock to best of their teenage ability.-

- Like their contemporaries recording for Justice, much of the album sounds as if it had been recorded in a basement. The Justice Winston-Salem studio seems to have injected a hollow, murky sound into almost everything touched. That said, this album has two things going for it. First, overlooking a couple of the top-40 covers (a painfully out of tune, yet charming "Until" and another sub-basement breakdown version of "Ebb Tide"), the band plays with considerable enthusiasm which usually makes up for their limited technical skills in "garage rock" plus. Blown notes and off-key vocals abound (see: the charm), and on material such as "Turn On Your Love Light" and "Bo Diddley" still sounds like these young cats were having a serious go yet with lots of fun. The other winning factor is the album's high self-penned content. Four of the album's twelve selections are originals, with the roaring fuzz-propelled title track (which was apparently intended as a never-to-be-released single), and "Kidding Around" standing out among the most impressive performances.
Make no mistake -- THE FUGITIVES LP is overall a worthy addition to any garage rock collection !!! -
