GREAT COPY OF THIS RARE AND REALLY QUITE WONDERFUL UNDERGROUND CLASSIC
OFTEN DESCRIBED AS THE FIRST TRUE UNDERGROUND 'ROCK' BAND, THE FUGS WERE A MISH-MASH OF A BEAT POETRY COLLECTIVE AND FOLKY JUG BAND COMBO WHO WANTED TO PLAY ROCK AND ROLL (AND JUST ABOUT HOLD IT TOGETHER) WITH THEIR OWN BRAND OF POLITICAL AND SOCIAL SATIRE
The band's often frank and humorous lyrics about sex, drugs, and politics have caused a hostile reaction in some quarters, most notably the FBI in the late 1960's. The group is referenced several times in the FBI file on The Doors, where the The Fugs First Album is called "vulgar and repulsive and...most suggestive."
Their participation in a protest against the Vietnam War in the late 1960s, during which they purportedly attempted to encircle and levitate the Pentagon, is chronicled in Norman Mailer's novel, Armies of the Night.

Clean, bright and unmarked labels with just one light spindle trace on one side
VINYL Visual: EXCELLENT++
The surfaces are practically unmarked under normal light and display just fine wispy hairiness under bright light
VINYL Audio: NEAR MINT
The sound performance is crystal clear, sharp and fresh and the record plays beautifully throughout with little to fault - just the occasional, isolated light click detected otherwise, flawless.
Crazy stuff - sometimes early Zappa, sometimes down-home country (with yodelling!), sometimes... something else, but always performed with a real 'punk' charm (constantly on the verge of musically falling apart but somehow managing to keep it all together).
This is really great stuff - a fantastic LP and one very, very highly recommended indeed

The fully laminated 'Wizard" sleeve is also in lovely condition with a deep glossy sheen and crisp, sharp edges and spine
