Description
Goldmine Record Grading Standards under a good strong light for accurate visual grading; Play-grading will be noted. Personal notes added about condition, historical references and context, dates, and pressing detail ( I use a Thorens' and Shure v15 cart/Klipsch 10.5 Towers for play-grading purposes)
RARE- Good Luck finding another original Good Rats TEST PRESSING of "Tasty" (1974)!
[ I have had a number of inquiries on this LP Testing, and I just NOW had a chance to respond..]
COLUMBIA RECORDS (PLAIN WHITE COVER) HAND PRINTED 'BS-2813'; this number is etched in the dead in the dead-wax: BS-2813 ; 40880-1-A. I do not know much more about the history here; I do know that "Tasty" was pressed on Warner Bros. label and released on 1974. Most of us have this LP. However, I have no explanation why Tasty tracks are on this Columbia Pressing; Was Columbia looking at signing Good Rats to their Label? I don't know. Here is the track listing I just heard during playback on my Thorens' rig: SIDE 1 opens with "Came Home Early Yesterday. . . "
Here is what I heard on this Columbia Pressing:
TRACKS: Back To My Music / Injun Joe / Tasty /300 Boys/ Papa Poppa //Fireball Express/Fred Upstairs And Ginger Snappers/Phil Fleish/Klash-Ka-Bob/Songwriter
** I ship (WORLDWIDE) immediately after Paypal payment
I've had this Test Pressing for years now, and I'm going to let it go. Good luck finding another one out there--I've never seen one online or at any records shows that I've attended over the years including the big one every year in Austin, TX. None of the experts could ever explain this Pressing to me...
If you know anything about the GOOD RATS or don't know anything at all about them, this Rare TEST PRESSING of their first LP & it will blow you away. It is hard enough to find their original first pressings, but to have their Test Pressing is the coolest. I also have a few promo labels of theirs I list in a few days...But this Test Pressing on the Columbia Records Productions (Santa Maria) Label, by far would be best described as the grand-daddy of what I have. Nothing else printed ont ehwhite labels; nothing on the white plain cover. (Personal name 'George Gerrity" printed on it.
There is no writing on the label at all. The vinyl grades a near mint, plays with Playback BOLD! Is the best way to describe it. Plays full-volume without even messing with the volume knob. Test Pressing-crispness. See the track listing here. I was offered $50 several years ago for it at a show, but decided to hold on to it for a while.
Like I said, good-luck finding another Test Pressing here....
all questions answered...thanks for being patient to those who did send questions earlier int he work
Original TEST PRESSING of the Good Rats' "TASTY" LP.
About My Shipping Practices: Records ship outside of their cover encased in a new 3-mil poly bag; ship in a NEW record mailer at 200lb test; cardboard or bubbled inserts used; all record mailer seams taped with non-rip Nylon tape; laser printed shipping and return address labels used with clear-tape-over each label for added adhesiveness; large RED 'FRAGILE' stamped front and back of mailer--overall, a professional packaging job as I would want to receive for the records I purchase....
