Description
Here's the Farewell To Winterland** (unofficial release/bootleg) 3xLP from The Grateful Dead.
**I am 99.9% sure
The vinyl is in nice VG+ condition--shiny vinyl, a few small marks here and there. The generic cover is in VG+ condition--clean, some shelf wear, half bottom split (from opening), no writing.
Here's what we know for sure:
- Two of the three discs are pressed on trippy multi-color smokey/splatter vinyl that also takes on a cool kinetic quality while spinning on the turntable.
- The jacket is blank and the labels are non-descript (and pretty weird)--Verzyl on one, Rikk or Riff on another and GLC on the third disc--sides 5 and 6--even though the label says sides 3 and 4.
- The setlist on this 3xLP is exactly the same as the Farewell To Winterland setlist and the runout matrix information is the same as the Winterland pressing for the first two discs, but not the third. (http://www.discogs.com/Grateful-Dead-Farewell-To-Winterland/release/2380085).
- This is not the Slipped Disc or Top Shelf label version.
- That this is 100% definitely the Farewell to Winterland set--I'm not GD expert and I haven't heard an identified Farewell set to compare, but I know the names of GD tunes when I hear them and the setlist matches perfectly (including the first New Years track).
- Exactly when this was made--probably 1981, which is the date on the label of the third disc (and makes sense since the show was from 1979).
- Exactly how many of these were made--probably one or two hundred (here is a link to a page that features information and photos from a bunch of bootleg LPs in a similar presentation style--even one with an identical Verzyl label: https://theamazingkornyfonelabel.wordpress.com/2014/02/).
