Description
THE GRATEFUL DEAD Shakedown Street hails from 2011 and is a SEALED U.S 180 gram reissue from Audio Fidelity and was remastered by Kevin Gray using the original analog masters from the Dead vaults.
The Grateful Dead had lots of members from diverse musical backgrounds, each lending a different facet to the band's sound and approach. 1978's Shakedown Street is their tenth studio album, and it's definitive Dead, essential to any serious rock collection, a fusion of rock, funk, blues, reggae, country and improvisation. Produced by Lowell George of Little Feat, the union between George and the Dead was certainly intriguing to say the least.
‘Shakedown Street’ features Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir on vocals and guitars, Phil Lesh on bass and vocals, Keith Godchaux on vocals and keyboards, Donna Jean Godchaux on vocals and Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart on percussion. The classic album cover art features work by underground comic artist Gilbert Shelton.
Two of the Dead's most beloved live songs, "Shakedown Street" and "Fire on the Mountain" appear here along with the bouncy Caribbean-soul-style cover of The Rascals' "Good Lovin," the revived "New Minglewood Blues," the Garcia and Robert Hunter tune "Stagger Lee," the instrumental "Serengetti," Bob Weir's "I Need a Miracle" and Donna Godchaux's "From The Heart Of Me."
