Our licensing deal with Detroit’s acclaimed Pied Piper Productions was launched in January with the “Pied Piper Presents” CD. We felt that such an esteemed catalogue deserved its own vinyl 45 label and logo. Its mission is to make the Northern Soul classics and newly discovered unissued gems available in their originally intended format.
The initial release is the fabulous first version of Lorraine Chandler’s Wigan classic ‘I Can’t Hold On’ backed by the evergreen and long unavailable ‘I’m Not Built That Way’ by the Hesitations. The second consists of Mikki Farrow’s ‘Set My Heart At Ease’ and September Jones’ ‘I’m Coming Home’, female soul standards that would cost a four-figure sum should you need battered old vintage copies. Get them while they’re still fresh.
