This auction is for a rare 45 rpm vinyl record in a custom Fontana sleeve.

THE HIGH NUMBERS – Although formed in the summer of 1961, it was not until 2½ years later that Shepherd’s Bush / Acton based group The Detours had built up quite a local following, but it was the first half of 1964 that brought a name change to ‘The High Numbers’ and the Mod image of checked jackets, cropped hair, cycling shoes and tee shirts.
The line up of Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend, John Entwhistle (who had used the name John Johns during the Detours period, but now became John Allison) and new recruit Keith Moon, replacing Dog Sandom on drums, cut their debut single ‘I’m The Face / Zoot Suit’.
Apart from articles in Fabulous and Disc and Record Mirror the single did little, and other tracks at the time like Bo Diddley’s ‘Here ‘T’ Is’ and the Holland Dozier olland song ‘Leavin’ Home’ remain unissued.
Originally issued as part of the Fontana Box Set – Hits and Rarities Volume 1.
In Mint (Unplayed) condition.
