This is from my collection, owned since new. I cannot remember playing this album, so if it has been it would only be once or twice.



RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM
I grew up buying second hand records from collector shops and have always been used to the old Record Collector grading system, so that is the one that I try to stick to when grading my records. It is important to remember that despite using a grading system, different collectors have different opionions about what makes a record ‘excellent’ compared to ‘very good’. I have tried my best to give a grade based on the system below. Hopefully with the images and any samples included you will be able to make a good judgement on your purchase. Here is the grading system I am working to:

RECORD COLLECTOR'S GRADING SYSTEM

Condition Value of listed price Example (£50 record) (£100 record) Mint 1 - (100%) £50 £100 Description: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint. Excellent 0.8 - (80%) £40 £80 Description: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. Very Good 0.5 - (50%) £25 £50 Description: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. Good 0.3 - (30%) £15 £30 Description: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc. Fair 0.15 - (15%) £7.5 £15 Description: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced. Poor 0.08 - (8%) £4 £8 Description: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing. Bad 0.025 - (3%) £1.25 £2.5 Description: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
