This is In The City, the debut album by The Jam, released in 1977 and capturing the band at the explosive beginning of their career. Emerging from the UK punk and mod revival scene, The Jam fused sharp social commentary with raw energy, classic R&B influences, and a distinctly British edge. Led by Paul Weller’s tightly focused songwriting, the album delivers concise, urgent performances on tracks like “Art School,” “Away From The Numbers,” and the title track “In The City,” establishing the group as one of the most important voices of late-1970s British rock.
This is an original US pressing on Polydor Records. The album was mastered at Masterdisk by Gilbert Kong, with “Masterdisk GK” hand-etched in the dead wax on both sides.
