THE JAM - LIVE AT THE 100 CLUB 1977 - 7" Picture Sleeve
Legendary Live recording from the 100 Club, Oxford Street, London on September 11th 1977
Excellent sound quality, recorded by the Polydor mobile unit (for USA market), but never officially released
In a hot packed sweaty basement in Oxford Street in the heart of London, three intense young men were giving both the Clash and the Sex Pistols a run for their money as punk's hottest live ticket. The Jam had already cut their teeth slogging the circuit of pubs, village halls and working men's clubs, the result being a fine tuned hybrid of punk rock and hardcore Motown, a lethal blend that would quickly propel you into the throbbing mass stagefront.
Having already spent two months touring their debut album, In The City, around the UK, the band spent August camped in Basing Street studios in London's Notting Hill Gate in order to start, recording tracks for the follow up. That album This Is The Modern World, would not appear until November, but in order to fine tune some of the newer songs before recording them in the studio, two gigs were hastily arranged for the second week of September.
The first night at the Nashville in Kensington, went well, but it was nowhere near as blistering as the next at the 100 Club, taking place on the 11th September. Which is presented here.
