If 64-era Kinks and 64-era Beatles had a raucous, sleazy freakchild, this'd be it. Incredibly consistent, with a lot of surprises (the ridiculous drum-and-guitar freakout of Cruncher, the actually well written acoustic tracks, the unrelenting aggression/attitude/fuzz of nearly the entire B-side) and remarkably confident and competent songwriting.
