Description

The Jazz five -the five of us , Tempo TAP 32 lp from 1961 , the last and one of the best lps tempo produced , very rare .Tony Hall from tempo records said this was the best sounding album he produced , high praise considering the great tubby hayes tempos. There are five hard bop / soul jazz originals - there it is , the five of us (dee) , hootin (ash) , 'pon my soul , still life (cecil) and a version of autumn leaves . The ban is vic ash tenor , harry klein baritone , brian dee piano , malcolm cecil bass (who went on to produce for stevie wonder in the 1970s ) , bill eyden / tony mann drums . Cecil , eyden and mann were all ex jazz couriers .The jazz five had just finished a two week tour round Britain playing with the miles davis quintet (1960).

Vinyl visually vg+ , two very light scratches , one just feelable , some light scuffs / paper scuffs . Vinyl still has good gloss , no bad scratches . Play grade strong vg++ , sounds fantastic , very loud round sound , a great quality pressing . There are some light clicks on track 1 side 2 but they are hard to hear and well below the level of the music . Track 2 side 1 has six light to moderate clicks , and four near the end of the track . Apart from these minor clicks the rest of the lp sounds great with occasional very light surface noise .A wonderful record to listen to.

Cover - vg++ , nice laminated cover with a few light creases and corner crease top right .Price written on back cover.
