Description
This is one of the most historic issues of Jazz, ingeniously conceived and produced in 1950 by Norman Granz of Clef (Mercury) Records, and issued in this deluxe edition of 5000 through pre-production subscription. The scope of musical presentation over six 12-inch 78's gave a vivid picture of the state of the music in Mid-Century, and the sounds' sensations are dramatically enhanced with the accompanying photos by Gjon Mili and a fold-out pen-and-ink drawing by David Stone Martin. The records have survived 70 years with only minimal loss of quality, gently played but all in strong Very Good condition. Sadly, time and elements have taken a toll on the paper, and each page bears evident water-damage (the worst of which is pictured). The set remains a rare treasure, but flawed---here is your opportunity to own it for a reasonable price!
