Album is packaged in a generic white sleeve with the following information stamped in the upper right hand corner:

Super rare vinyl test pressing for an album that was NEVER released. This was put out as a Mobile Fidelity SACD, but never as a vinyl record. Mastered by the legendary Stan Ricker. Certainly, a unique chance to own a vinyl record that is extremely limited. Only information on the disc itself is stamped on the upper right corner of the cover and on the disc label.

These highly collectible test pressings are from the first stamper and sometimes less than 10 exist. Test pressings reflect the closest you can get to the lacquers and hence have a special collectible value.

Condition: Generic white cover has stubbed corners and slight ring wear (more like a ring "impression"). Vinyl looks to have never been played. Shiny, new looking and plays beautifully.

Review: Low Budget doesn't have a narrative like Preservation or Soap Opera, but Ray Davies cleverly designed the album as a sly satire of the recession and oil crisis that gripped America in the late '70s -- thereby satisfying his need to be a wry social commentator while giving American audiences a hook to identify with. It was a clever move that worked; not only did Low Budget become their highest-charting American album (not counting the 1966 Greatest Hits compilation), but it was also a fine set of arena rock, one of the better mainstream hard rock albums of its time.
