Description
The records that I offer for sale have been critically play-graded, at loud volume, on a Rega Planar 3 turntable fitted with an Elys cartridge. I will only sell records that play to a high standard. Any significant playing defects will be detailed in the description below. I know how disappointing it is to receive a record graded as excellent, only to find that listening pleasure is spoiled by endless pops, loud clicks and intrusive background crackle. I guarantee that you will not buy such a record from me!!
The winning bidder can expect to receive a clean record, carefully packaged, with the vinyl removed from the inner and outer sleeves to prevent splits in transit.
Here for auction is a SUPERB EXAMPLE of the first album by the KINKS simply titled “KINKS”, Catalogue Number NPL 18096. This is an ORIGINAL 1964 MONOAURAL UK FIRST PRESSING on the PINK PYE LABEL. The matrix numbers and stampers are:
Side 1 - NN 1096 – A 2 T ODDD KT
Side 2 - NN 1096 B – 4S B 1
The front-laminated flipback sleeve, printed by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd., is in VERY GOOD PLUS CONDITION. The front and back covers show only a few light creases. The three flipbacks are completely intact and undamaged. The top and bottom edges show barely any signs of wear. There is moderate feathering to the opening edge. The opening corners have some rubbing and are slightly rounded. The spine is SOLID with all TEXT CLEARLY LEGIBLE. There is a name inscription underneath the top flipback on the back cover.
The record is VERY SOLIDLY PRESSED and sits flat and true on the turntable. It retains much of its ORIGINAL DEEP LUSTRE. Visually there are a few light sleeve removal type surface marks, and 3 or 4 more obvious marks probably caused by a wayward stylus. None of these marks affect play in any way. This really is a beautiful example of classic chunky 60s vinyl!!
The PINK PYE LABELS are unmarked apart from a few light spindle marks and three tiny initials written neatly by the spindle hole on Side 1. I am confident that the record has not been played very many times.
PLAYGRADE ASSESSMENT:
Both sides play SUPERBLY with ALL FREQUENCIES CRYSTAL CLEAR. This is a particularly loud and vibrant MONOAURAL recording which SOUNDS SENSATIONAL played at high volume!! I always marvel at the quality of these deep-grooved original Pye pressings. I just can’t stress enough how good this sounds. There are NO jumps, pops or loud clicks, and a minimum of unwanted noise. This really is a fantastic playing copy!!
Complete with the CORRECT ORIGINAL poly-lined white inner sleeve which is in very good condition, with just a small split at one opening edge.
DON’T MISS THIS ONE!!!
