Description

FIRST PRESS PYE LABEL + FIRST PRESS INNER SLEEVE + FIRST PRESS GATEFOLD FLIPBACK LAMINATED COVER! Wow, here it is - the rarest Kinks LP from the 1960s and one that seldom appears for sale as it sold in such tiny numbers originally and only received a critical re-appraisal decades later. This auction is for the original 1968 PYE 1st pressing release in MONO of "Village Green Preservation Society" with magnificent condition vinyl. Rarely played clearly and all the more remarkable given the fact it's now 45 years old. The LP is the original issue record by Pye with the code 18233. The album comes with its original polythene lined company inner sleeve from 1968 as pictured. Its front laminated gatefold sleeve and opens to a beautiful picture of the classic line-up of the band in vibrant colours. I've used up all 12 of the free pics that eBay allows for auctions so you can see the condition of this wonderful album including four pictures of both sides of the beautiful condition vinyl itself. Take a good look at just how lovely the vinyl is - I've tried my best to not allow the flash from my camera to spoil the pics but if you'd like any others then let me know. As is the case with many albums from the 1960s and the flimsy nature of the way LP covers were made back in the day (this one is almost half a century ago now!), the outer cover shows some wear but is by no means in a bad way. Again, the enclosed auction pictures will hopefully make this clear to any interested party and I have included several in order to indicate the notable signs of wear, mainly at the top of the LP cover. There's a mark on the front where a sticker may have once resided but was then removed (again, there's an accompanying picture of this). The LP front gatefold laminated cardboard cover was notoriously weak and flimsy but I'm pleased to say that this has pretty much held its shape and the inner gatefold picture and rear cover look superb. There are no pen marks , names etc written anywhere on this item - a minor miracle in itself! The record was pressed on thick quality vinyl and has the authentic 1st pressing blue and black Pye labels . I'm sad to have to sell this but I am needing to raise funds for my daughter's forthcoming birthday and so something has to go from my remaining LP collection. This exact record regularly fetches between £150 to £200 on eBay, such is its rarity for collectors - I am starting the price for this auction at just under £10 with a bargain BUY IT NOW of just under £100. Given the incredible condition of the vinyl itself, you really don't want to miss out on this particular example of The Village Green Preservation Society and with the accompanying auction pictures you can see exactly what you're bidding on too. I will send this album extremely well packaged anywhere in the world and insured postage for sending outwith the UK can be arranged at close of auction and is recommended with a rarity such as this beautiful album. Recorded or registered mail options are the only way I will send this wonderful album within the UK, I will let the winning bidder decide which option of the two they would prefer to pay for.
