OK...I never thought I'd have a spare copy of this ultra private LP made by Vietnam Vets in the '70s...and now because I do I listen more closely. Many good garagy pop bluesy tracks, an appealing sound, but STILL, the reason I hype this is like everything is gravy (and Good Gravy) BUT the ultimate track "The Riddle Of The Coming Hurt" is the long song on the LP and is the most stark, scary, vivid, depiction of the horrors of war I've ever heard. Part of that is because this is real people who survived relating their trip...but part also is this GENIUS repeating climax that they lay down out of the dirge tempo of the music that has this resigned, world weary nirvana acceptance of the darkness...it is chilling!! As this is hard to explain in words, do not hesitate to contact me about this LP if you want more info. It is so dark, so basic, so trancy. One of the heaviest garage tracks I've ever heard, certainly the creepiest about that war. Fab cover with pics of these messed up dudes, on the Lucky Disc private label, and they call their sounds 'a new category of music-Shanty Blue Folk'. OK, I like lots of songs on this one, but the 'Riddle Of The Coming Hurt' is so DEEP it is amongst my personal heaviest music experiences ever!! And those of you who know me will understand that is sayin' somethin...and that is what I base my min. bid on...that song. As good as it gets for me...
