Sometimes, a thing is more than a thing. I remember, fondly, my intrigue with The Last of Us, up until its release. I worked at an unnamed GameStore during the time, and all I wanted to do was soak up everything I could about the title. It's funny, because as the release led up, something overshadowed it... Bioshock: Infinite. I still have a special spot in my heart for Bioshock: Infinite, but if I realized a few short months later that a game that would truly make me redefine my love of video games... Well, things are the way they are. The Last of Us did something special for me, and it has affected who I have become. I have shown off the game to many people around me, people who would come and go. It was a way for me to express WHAT video games could be.
As I write that out, I realize that even though things are truly just things, the memories, the importance placed upon those objects can be more important that the value of a thing. I purchased this vinyl set a few years back, during a time of relocating, refocusing, and realizing that my first few years into adulthood weren't completely successful. Maybe successful, but with a mix of failure, learning, and growth.
I never did end up getting a vinyl player, but that is okay. I was able to display this, to look at it and remind myself of certain points of my adulthood were tracked via this title. The day the game came out. When the game was announced, and subsequently released, on PS4. When the trailer for The Last of Us Part II was released. When we saw gameplay footage. All of the playthroughs.
It is hard to part with, but it is part of growing. The Last of Us will always be with me, even if I don't have every single piece of memorabilia that was released. More than anything, I'd like somebody to be able to possess this item and enjoy it.
The LPs have not been played. This has traveled through four moves with me, but I have always respected it. There is a minor ding in the upper-right hand corner on the front, as noted in photo #2. I will ship the item to you as it was shipped to me, in a large box with cardboard stabilizers.
