The 45 we are offering here is a real mystery, and a record that has the potential to become the rarest piece of vinyl to ever surface on Detroit’s La Beat record label.

We recently purchased some records from the estate of James Hendrix, who was involved with Lou Beatty in La Beat records in the mid-60’s.  This mis-labeled 45 has on one side the vocal version of “Together, That’s The Only Way”, which was featured on several of The Masqueraders’ La Beat releases.

However, the other side of this record is an INSTRUMENTAL version of “Together, That’s The Only Way”, which appears to be unreleased!

There is some precedence for this, as The Masqueraders released their song “Be Happy For Me” as both a vocal and an instrumental version, which in the case of that song the instrumental version was credited to “The LPTs” (La Beat Production Team).  The sources of this information are from the websites of “soulfuldetroit” and “solidhitsoul”.  Perhaps there were similar plans for an instrumental release of “Together, That’s The Only Way” that never saw a proper release?

The record we are offering here has both the incorrect record labels and the incorrect numbers in the dead wax.  The vocal side of the record has a hand-written label placed over the label song title, while the instrumental side has the song title crossed out with a black marker.
