A Musical Light Show (1967 STEREO)
What a great, kooky, and over-the-top psychedelic album this is. It's really like two records in one. There's a reasonably OK psyche album here that has everything from fuzzed out guitars to hippie flutes. Now layer on top of that, some crazy monkey with a big bunch of sound effects records. That's right, sound effects. Not just a few, but loads of them.
Just as the piece is kicking into high gear here comes a thunderstorm, gunshots, babies crying or even a set of wheezing bagpipes! It's wild, wacky, weird and bizarre.
Witness a psychedelic band using cash register sound effects years before Pink Floyd used them on Dark Side Of The Moon. If this was on some small label it'd be a legendary album worth thousands. Too bad. I think it's magnificent. It has a real sense of humor to it, it's well recorded and is like an LSD trip on vinyl.
