THE METRONOMES
A CIRCUIT LIKE ME / CLOSED CIRCUIT
AUSTRALIA 1980
CLEOPATRA RECORDS CSP 2205
Vinyl under strong light has a few small insignificant hairlines
Clean labels.
No sleeve.
By the time of this their second single “A Closed Circuit” they were onto rudimentary drum machines, again with jangly guitars and synths, but more prominent bass guitar. The flip, “A Circuit Like Me” features robotic female vocals, the woman machine, a precursor to what would become the Stereolab.
We were experimenting with drum machines. Rhythm sections for both sides were recorded using a borrowed Roland CR-78. Andrew and I once again had a side each, but Ash collaborated on both. It was the first time a vocal had been used, albeit spoken, courtesy of a lady called Talking Judy.
