THE OPEN MIND "THE OPEN MIND" 1990s exact reissue of impossibly RARE 1969 Psychedelic LP originally issued in England as Philips SBL-7893. Not much is known of this group but they produced one of the best Psych Pop albums of the era. They also released two non-LP singles, both sides of the second one- "Magic Potion" & "Cast A Spell" are added here as bonus tracks. "Magic Potion" is a great song & has been on many British Psych compilation anthologies over the years. It is somewhat reminiscent of Hawkwind's "Master Of The Universe" & sounds like Lemmy has joined the band! The remaining 13 tracks are also quite good complete with strong vocals & tasty fuzz guitar. They remind me of the Creation or "A Quick One" era Who. Despite the quality of their material, the Open Mind LP & singles sank without trace & the band drifted into obscurity only to be rediscovered with the 1986 Antar reissue (with a different cover) in 1986. This slightly later edition faithfully reproduces the original color "Charioteer of Delphi" cover graphics. Red & green psychedelic swirl labels have no company listings but this is otherwise a faithful reproduction of Philips SBL-7893 with 14 tracks as opposed to 12 on the original album. The stereo sound quality is excellent throughout on this well produced reissue. Cover & record are both in MINT like new condition.
