THE OPEN WINDOW: The Open Window (Vanguard, SVRL 19039, 1969)
Described variously as chamber pop-jazz, folk-rock raga, and pop classical, (and how about Baroque and roll?) the closest is probably the first, and some of these pieces seem to be foretelling Philip Glass style minimalism. Other pieces sound a bit like the Doors with everything except a noodling organ switched off (and I'll bet Van der Graaf Generator's Hugh Banton listened to this a few times). Whatever, it is always interesting to hear experimental stuff that is slightly (and gloriously madly) out of step with everything else that is going on. Hey, you could even call some of this easy listening!
Overall a nice copy. Sleeve is VG, though with light age-darkening of the laminate. Record plays at a nice VG+ to EX, with a few random pops here and there, which a deep clean may easily sort out (in other words, I've already managed to find and remove the causes of some of them - detritus in the groove). There is some light background crackle in some of the quieter places, though, not that distracting from the overall condition.
* * * * Records generally have hairline marks from going in and out of sleeves - I do not mention these unless they cause audible noise. All records are play tested unless explicitly stated otherwise. Most of the records I am selling play at "Excellent" or "Very Good" as per Record Collector grading. Any specific defects are otherwise described in the listing. Please look at the photos carefully for condition of sleeves/labels.

Where possible, packaging will be recycled but sturdy/secure.
Combined postage *for UK buyers only* - 6 single LPs costs the same to post as 1 single LP. Note that if you win items in multiple formats, (e.g., an LP and a CD), these have to be sent as multiple parcels (though I can bundle up 7" records with an LP).

* * * * Unless stated otherwise, all items are from my own collection. Most has been in storage for nearly 20 years. Lockdowns made me wonder why I have multiple copies of records that I will never listen to. There are about 8,000 more items to come from my rambling progressive, jazz fusion, folk, blues, 1950s stereo classical and easy listening, psychedelic, reggae, ambient, spoken word, comedy, railway, field recordings, electronic and occasionally just plain 'out there' collection.
