Description

The Orchids' "I've Got a Habit" 7" single (catalog SARAH 002 on Sarah Records) is the second release on the legendary Sarah Records label, issued in January/February 1988 (most sources cite January 25 or early February 1988).

It's a 3-track 45 RPM EP/single:

  • Side A: "I've Got a Habit" (~2:32) and "Give Me Some Peppermint Freedom" (~2:56)
  • Side B: "Apologies" (~3:50)

Classic Sarah Records indie pop / jangle pop / twee sound — bright, chiming guitars, melodic hooks, slightly naive and charming Scottish vocals (from James Moody and band), with witty, playful lyrics. The title track and "Peppermint Freedom" especially capture that light, catchy, early Sarah charm.

A key early artifact in the Sarah/C86-indie pop canon, highly regarded for launching one of the label's longest-running and most beloved bands. It's collectible among fans of late-80s British indie pop.
