ALBUM DETAILS

THE OUTLAWS - DREAM OF THE WEST (1961) HMV CLP.1489

Now although this is not a 'mint' copy, this album does not come up very often in anything like a good playing copy. So here is a great copy of the rare early 60's instrumental album from The Outlaws, produced by the legendary Joe Meek.

Pressed on original 'heavy' vinyl it has the distinctive 'mauve' labels which confirm it as a 1st pressing.

The dead wax matrix numbers are :

Side 1   2xEA 2041-1N    Side 2    2XEA 2042 - 1N

VINYL

The appearance and overall condition of the flat and heavy vinyl is very good plus (VG+). Each side is bright and retains its original black sheen but it does have surface marks consistent with a VG+ grading, however most of the surface marks (which are fine surface markings, paper scuffs and just a couple of very light needle scratches) are only seen under closer inspection and under bright. There are no 'feelable' marks.

LABELS

The labels are excellent (EX) with the gold text upon the smooth mauve label and showing the iconic HMV 'nipper' logo. The only blemishes are just a bit of 'rub' wear to the text on Side 2 and a little wear around the spindle hole. NOTE: With reference to the photos, I have also shown photos of the labels inside the poly-lined jacket as it displays a truer colour of the labels than shown in the individual photos which appear redder in colour.

SLEEVE

The condition of the laminated outer sleeve is excellent (EX). There is just some wear to the edges and along the opening edge, and the back has just a small crease to the flip-back bottom right and a little age browning or grubby markings. The spine is clear and solid and clearly shows the album title. The original inner jacket has not faired quite so well and is a little creased and has had some invisible tape repair in a couple of places.

SOUND

The quality of the audio is excellent (EX)
The whole album plays superbly, in fact it definitely plays to at least an excellent (EX) standard. It has a lovely tone and clarity throughout, even at higher volume. No repeats, sticks or clicks and barely any surface noise - just some background at the run-in on both sides  which stops as soon as the track begins. Otherwise any other noise is trivial and probably down to dust in the grooves through decades of storage, although the vinyl has been cleaned. Every track plays brilliantly, from "Dream Of The West" right through to "Tune For Short Cowboys" which ends Side 2.

It really is a nice copy!

POSTING

Note: The record will be posted using a plain white replacement inner sleeve for shipping purposes in order to protect the original.

PLEASE NOTE REGARDING LP RECORDS

We always do EVERYTHING POSSIBLE to grade our LP records accurately, but you must bear in mind that unless you are buying a vinyl record that  is SEALED, or in NEAR-MINT condition, there will always likely be some type of surface sound, or background noise somewhere on the vinyl, better known as pops or light crackling. If an LP has been played a couple of times, it can never be perfect. This is especially noticeable in classical and jazz records, which have quiet passages. You are buying vinyl LPs because they sound better than CDs, however the pops and crackling come with an LP.

GRADES: Buyer satisfaction is very important, so we always try to describe items accurately and we always check condition under strong light so what we describe is what you get! Grades are based on the UK Rare Record Price Guide (RRPG) grading system. Suffixes (+) & (-) are also used to grade vinyl falling between 2 grades to try and give the most accurate description.
