The Rolling Stones
This very early mono 2A/4A pressing is on the red unboxed Decca grooved label and features the long version of 'Tell Me'. The audio plays to a very high standard and comes with a very clean cover.

The audio on S1 is Ex+ (Near Mint in many sections)

Visual grading
This vinyl is visually very impressive and very clean for its advanced years. There are a couple of marks on S1 and several very fine hairlines but they do not have an adverse affect on the audio at all. To be honest I have not seen many unboxed Decca early pressings looking as good as this and it still has a lovely glossy sheen. The run out grooves are extremely clean and there is no obvious spindle wear. A great example of such an early pressing.
Play grading
The audio on S1 is of a very high standard. The opening two tracks play with great power and depth and no interference and the first relatively quiet track, 'Honest I Do' is very impressive also. With no clicks or pops there is hardly any background static and the clarity is exceptional on a record of this age. The remaining tracks play to the same exacting standard and this is without one of the cleanest early pressing on the red unboxed Decca label I have heard in a long time. 'I Need You Baby' and 'Now I've Got A Witness' are quite simply stunning. There is perhaps a little more distortion on the final track, 'Little By Little' but this is no doubt due to a mono record being played through a stereo system. The audio on this side displays wonderful clarity and there are no clicks or pops and certainly no crackle. Plus there is hardly any 'background' in the dead wax between tracks either.
S2 plays in similar fashion. 'I'm A King Bee' has superb clarity and a wonderful rich deep bass sound. The other tracks play with excellent quality also and as an example of clarity, 'Carol' has no 'background on the fade out at all. The Jagger/Richards composition 'Tell Me' with its many quiet sections has superb clarity and no clicks or pops again. Between tracks there is perhaps a little more background on this side but once again there is no intrusive interference during the music. There is a slightly more distortion on 'Walking The Dog' but again will be due to the aforementioned reason.
In summary this mega early pressing plays with great clarity and for there to be only two clicks in total, this has to be a rarity. There is also no obvious crackle and overall is a superb listen.
The Cover
The laminated 'Clarifoil' cover printed by 'MacNeill Press' is in very good shape for over 50 years old. The edges and thin pinched spine are in excellent condition with no shelf wear. There is some creasing to the laminate most notably to the bottom left near the spine and next to the opening edge although it isn't major and there are no actual splits. The opening edge itself is in lovely condition with hardly any handling wear. There is also a small sticker removal mark top left. The back cover is very clean overall with no obvious marking but there are some reference numbers written top right.
Inner sleeve
The plain white inner sleeve has no splits to the sides and only one small tear on the top edge plus some general creasing.
The labels
The grooved labels are in wonderful condition with no marking and barely any spindle wear. The KT tax stamp is on the S2 dead wax. Superb examples.
