Description
Hi, and welcome to psych_out! auctions!!!
I've collected 50's, 60's, and early 70's records of almost every genre - Psych, Prog, Psychedelic Funk, Soul, Rhythm 'n' Blues, Pop, Folk, Garage, Acid, Freakbeat, Rock, Jazz e.t.c and everything in between for all my life!!! Obviously, 90%+ of the LP's i've ever gotten hold of are completely trashed from the hard living ways and the rock 'n' roll, drug and booze fuelled debauchery of all the wild parties of the times, but the golden 10%? Reluctantly, i've decided to offer them to all of you serious record collectors out there!!! I'm currently trying to set up a record label so unfortunately personal sacrifices have to be made when it comes to my collection, resulting in GREAT benefits for all you shrewd bidders and serious connosieurs of TRUE solid gold music history out there!!! Make no mistake, i'll try my best to consistently offer some of the VERY BEST records available on ebay, many which have taken me YEARS to find!!!
I aim to put a weekly batch up (time permitting) every wednesday, all timed to end 10 days later on saturday night. I'll only ever offer THE BEST, MOST AMAZING, MOST IMPORTANT, VERY RAREST UK 1ST PRESS ORIGINAL RELEASE RECORDS i've got!!! I won't insult you with later 2nd pressings unless they are of exceptional quality and rarity. I'm sure you love good music as much as me, especially when it's a 1st Press LP, direct from the master tape, as the musicians intended it to be heard (none of this "digitally remastered", weak reissued, remixed rubbish from hired hands with one eye on the mixing desk and the other on the clock! If these session men really knew how genius should sound, surely they would've been geniuses themselves?! There will only ever be one Hendrix, and that's just a tiny example).
I try to be one of the best sellers on ebay and would like to thank all of you potential bidders for your support and taste in music!!! I strictly grade all LP's I list, visually and sonically using the UK RRPG standards as customer satisfaction is highly important to me, and i'll always do my very best not to let you down. Be sure to add me to your favourite sellers list and check my auctions frequently as i'll be listing some gems that you just WON'T want to miss out on!!!
I think that's everything, so let the auction commence!!!
Title : The Rolling Stones - After-MathLabel & year : Original "Unboxed" Decca LK 4786 LP , UK Mono 1966 ULTRA RARE WITHDRAWN "Shadow" 1st Press!!!
Matrix's : Side A : XARL-7209-4B, Side B : XARL-7210-4A
ONE OF THE GREATEST LP'S EVER!!! Most won't need me to tell you how IMPOSSIBLY RARE a true "Shadow" 1st Press of this LP truly is, but for those who need filling in - Just as this monumental album was first going to press in 1966, a very small trial run of shadow sleeves were made to see if the effect worked, but a last minute decision was made by the band and management that the shadow effect of the After-Math text on the front just wasn't the right look for whatever reason (I reckon it looks damn cool!!!), immediately changing it to a clean cut, pure white text look!!! As a result, only an absolute MINISCULE amount managed to get out!!! It's utterly AMAZING that any even escaped from the plant!!! Somehow, some did resulting straight away in EASILY one of THE most valuable and rarest Stones LP's to EVER be commercially released!!!
These barely EVER turn up due to the absolutely miniscule amount remaining being immediately snapped up by the rabid Stones faithful dotted across the globe, so it's always a MONUMENTAL moment when one of these come up for sale!!! DON'T MISS OUT - you just never know when such a great example will ever show up again!!!
An incredible album, just look at the track line up! Surely one of THE very best Stones album of ALL TIME!!! This is magnificent, this is a masterpiece, and it's their 1st LP of 100% Jagger/Richards originals! Definitely one of my favourite EVER LP's as far as i'm concerned. What makes it so amazing is that it contains pure magic!! You can tell it's all from the same session, as each track has got a really distinct flavour. This was where the Stones went from being a great blues band, to true revolutionaries who helped guide rock music to where it is today!!!
Really this is Brian Jones's album, as every track has his signature all over it. From his Dulcimer, through his Harpsichord, to his Sitar - this is the record he put his soul into. Absolutely phenomenal!!!
Tracklist : Mother's Little Helper, Stupid Girl, Lady Jane, Under My Thumb, Doncha Bother Me, Goin' Home, Flight 505, High And Dry, Out Of Time, It's Not Easy, I Am Waiting, Take It Or Leave It, Think, and What To Do.
Musicians : Mick Jagger - Vocals, Keith Richard - Guitar, Charlie Watts - Drums, Bill Wyman - Bass, Brian Jones - Guitar and everything else!, and Andrew Loog Oldham - Producer.
Trivia : This was the first ever Stones album where they wrote EVERY song!!! Also, i'd argue that punk was invented on the outro to Mother's Little Helper!!! ("Oi!")
About : Ultra Rare Original 1966 WITHDRAWN UK 1st Press!!! This MASSIVELY RARE LP initially sold barely anything (LP's were also really expensive to most people back then!!!) and therefore had a very small run, and is INCREDIBLY HARD TO FIND, especially in this condition!!! AN absolute classic LP from this incredible band!!! An astonishing album that really DESERVES to be in EVERY serious 60's / 70's record collection!!! Don't miss out on this MEGA RARE LP!!! If you like good music, bid now!!!
The LP :
Labels :
Classic UK 1st Press red ridged "Unboxed" Decca labels!!! Both sides are FANTASTIC with NO real signs of age, NO writing, NO stickers, and NO tears whatsoever!!! Just has a small amount of ultra light spindle marks which suggests that this has barely had much play over the years at all!!! AWESOME for a 44 year old record!!! Both must grade overall at least as Excellent minus!!!
Record : Visual -
Spectacular Original 1966 UK 1st Press Vinyl!!! Nice bright, clean and shiny as if it was just pressed!!! Fantastic jet black mirror like surfaces, it looks INCREDIBLE with NO nasty scratches, groovewear, or nasty deep scuffs whatsoever!!! The only blemishes off perfection are just a few of the lightest, wispy sleeve traces, one or two ultra light hairlines, and a TINY amount of mega mild non sounding paper scuffs (only visible in strong angled light) mostly caused from where it has sat or been removed from it's cover over the years!!! Of course, none of these ULTRA light blemishes interfere with play AT ALL!!! PHENOMENAL for a record of this age and rarity!!! AWESOME condition - you'll be amazed by how generally clean and unworn it is!!! Must grade overall at the very least as Excellent!!! (graded STRICTLY to the UK RRPG standards, not overgraded AT ALL!!! Customer satisfaction is of 100% importance to me) Record : Audio - Thankfully, it plays BRILLIANTLY with fantastic mono blast and clarity!!! In fact, the ONLY thing that stops me grading this much higher is just slightly inconsistent sound on side B (technically it doesn't matter as all mono 1st presses had this due to side 2 being mastered from slightly misaligned tape heads and being crammed to the hilt with 8 tracks, still I judge these things as a sonic experience regardless of the circumstances - the only tracks where it's particularly obvious are High & Dry and I Am Waiting giving a muffled effect at times, but overall this example escapes most of the horrors I've heard on others!!!), but other than that, it really sounds incredible with NO hisses, hops, distortion, OR sticks!!! Only like nearly ALL records has the MEREST TOUCH of low level static in the rarest few and far between places such as on the run in grooves and between some tracks, but that's about it!!! The vast, vast, majority of the music is TRULY crystal clear - It really does mostly play with a CD-like near black silence, but with that depth, bass, warmth and clarity you can only get from UK 1st Press vinyl!!! EVEN most of the quiet sections!!! Absolutely ESSENTIAL!!! ASTONISHING for a record of this age and rarity!!! Must grade overall audiably at least as Very Good+++!!! (graded STRICTLY to the UK RRPG standards, not trashed or overgraded AT ALL!!! Customer satisfaction is of 100% importance to me) Sleeve :Original UK 1966 1st press front laminated mono Robert Stace WITHDRAWN "Shadow" sleeve complete with original inner!!! IMPOSSIBLE to find this sleeve in anything approaching a good condition - most are spent, torn and worn due to age and the lifestyles of the buyers of this particular LP!!! This one is NOT too bad at all, especially considering the nature of these fragile sleeves!!! NO tears, NO splits, NO graffiti, and still ULTRA strong and solid after all these years!!! Only has a few signs of usual ageing such as some light creasing and minor signs of a record imprint, a slight touch of laminate lifting along the spine, a tiny price sticker and some general light staining and discolouration to the unlaminated back (absolutely nothing too drastic - no coffee cup rings OR graffiti), some denting/rounding to the four corners which basically ALL vintage LP's have, and POSSIBLY (just to be sure!!!) one or two other minor signs of age here and there, though nothing that really stands out to note at all!!! And that's truly about it!!! I tend to bring it down by listing EVERY negative I can possibly find, but despite some ageing, this is a well presentable sleeve and a TRUE rarity to find one as strong, undamaged, and as awesomely presentable as this - most have been virtually destroyed or are just about being held together, but not this one!!! It remains ultra strong, solid, unsplit and unspoilt, and even the spine remains strong, solid, unsplit and 100% readable!!! Must grade overall at the least as Good++++!!! (graded STRICTLY to the UK RRPG standards, not trashed or overgraded AT ALL!!! Customer satisfaction is of 100% importance to me)
Summary : A BRILLIANT scarcely played example of this MEGA RARE classic WITHDRAWN Shadow Mono 1st Press LP!!! Hard to find in ANY condition, but SERIOUSLY RARE TO FIND ONE AS AWESOME AS THIS!!! YOU MAY NEVER GET THE CHANCE AGAIN, so don't miss out on this scarce opportunity to own a true piece of 60's/70's music history!!! Bid now!!!
Please take a look at all my other auctions for many other ultra rare classic LPs, and feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. Thanks again for looking, it's truly appreciated!! Cheers!!!I've realized that most countries have their own unique grading system. I base mine strictly on the UK RRPG grading system (occasionally with a + or a - to indicate the higher and lower ends of the grade, though I only use these if i'm having real trouble deciding!), so please check their chart for further clarity if you are unsure of what my grades mean. As a general rule, a mint record will be 100% perfect, an excellent record will be in fantastic clean condition with the occasional mild mark and minor use from the years, and a very good record will have noticeable, yet light visual markings and obvious signs of age and use, but will still remain clean with relatively light wear and will play fantastically well with plenty of life remaining in it. I very rarely offer records below the very good region unless they are of an EXCEPTIONAL rarity and playing quality...I hope this helps!
