The Rolling Stones : The Rolling Stones 6A / 12A Boxed Mono Press

This boxed Decca pressing plays with superb audio on both sides with no interference, not even a dust tick!  I would not be surprised if it had never been played before such is the sonic quality.  The clarity, depth and power of the audio is stunning and the vinyl looks 'as new' also, it is visually stunning to say the least.  It doesn't get any better than this!  A FINAL UPGRADE archive pressing for sure.

The cover has been preserved so well with no obvious wear and mono inner sleeve is also in superb condition.

On the stonesondecca site the estimated production of this boxed label variation was in the late 70s.  However, the mono inner is dated 5-73 and I doubt if it had ever been swapped as the previous owner looked after his records so well.

Visual description

The vinyl is in pristine condition and still has an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  Under a bright light I can only see a couple of ultra faint hairlines but even they are very difficult to locate!  The run out grooves are so clean and you can still easily see the JT tax stamp on each side.  The boxed red Decca labels are 'as new' with no marking and no spindle wear.

Play grading

S1 has a perfectly clean run in and then '...Route 66' plays with stunning quality with not even a solitary dust tick.  This is audio of the highest calibre and Mint is very much deserved.

'I Just Want To Make Love To You' plays to the same high end standard with no interference.  A bit of a 'thin' sound perhaps but that is expected with these pressings.  It still grades as Mint

'Honest I Do' has a greater depth of sound and plays with sublime clarity from start to finish without any background.  Another Mint track in every way and that includes the fade out.

The intro on 'I Need You Baby' is flawless and Jagger's opening vocal is just as strong.  It continues to play with exceptional clarity and depth and, you will not be surprised to hear, no interference.  I cannot emphasise enough just how well this vinyl is playing and as stated before it is obvious it has hardly been played... if at all!  A stunning version.  Mint

The final two tracks 'Now I've Got A Witness' and 'Little By Little' end the side with great quality and zero intrusion.  Tremendous depth and warmth on the first and the latter has barely any inner groove distortion which is a rarity.  The sound is very clean and both grade as Mint in my opinion.

Another perfect run in and 'I'm A King Bee' then plays with imperious quality with no sign of any interference.  No dust ticks, static ticks, clicks, pops or static - pure clean Mint audio throughout.

'Carol' plays with real power and the clarity cannot be faulted either.  A kind of a 'thin' sound again but that's down to the recording / production so should not be downgraded as a result.  Mint

The classic 'Tell Me' plays to the same standard with no intrusion.  Great clarity and no distortion on the top end.  Mint

The remaining tracks 'Can I Get A Witness', 'You Can Make It If You Try' and 'Walking The Dog' all play with no intrusion on the audio and the clarity of sound is just stunning.  The final track again has no obvious inner groove distortion and I am confident in grading all three as Mint such is the quality.

In summary this later boxed pressing plays to the highest standard possible with literally no intrusion on the audio.  It really does not play like it has never seen a turntable before with a clarity and power that cannot be faulted.  The vinyl is visually stunning and together with a near perfect cover this winning bidder will not be disappointed.

The Cover & Inner Sleeve

The cover is in superb condition with barely any wear.  In fact all I can see is some minor marking running down the right edge of the laminated front cover and 3/4 very minor blemishes on the back which is not laminated of course.  It is definitely one of the back covers I have ever seen.  The edges, spine and corners are incredibly clean with no shelf wear and overall this is a stunning example of this cover.

The original poly-lined mono inner (dated 5-73) is practically 'as new' with no side splits or tears and only minimal creasing.  There is no marking apart from some glue showing through on one edge which is common.

This record has been cleaned on a Pro-Ject VC-S machine

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
