The Rolling Stones : Let It Bleed 1W / 3W Very Early Boxed Decca Stereo Press 1969
This is known as the first pressing on the blue boxed Decca label and it plays with superb audio throughout. There is no obvious interference, just some very light static on a couple of tracks for a few seconds, a couple of light ticks and a minimal amount of inner groove distortion. Overall the clarity, depth and power of the audio is so impressive and with no spindle wear on the labels this is a record that has hardly been played in my opinion. The vinyl itself is in excellent condition.
The cover is STUNNING plus plus! It is practically 'as new' with no obvious wear. It is so clean and has been preserved so well, it has retained its original shape and structure perfectly. The original Decca inner sleeve is in great condition also. Unfortunately there is no poster included here.
The blue boxed stereo version was pressed very early on, in 1969 in fact, and this one is known as the first pressing as denoted by the matrix info. The cover of course has the mono / stereo indicator hole on the back.

Visual description
The vinyl is in great condition and still has a strong glossy sheen with no obvious marks or scratches. Under a bright light I can see a small number of faint hairlines and some tiny very faint 'specks' in a couple of areas but this has zero impact on the audio. There is no groove or surface wear and the blue boxed Decca labels are like new with no marking or spindle wear.
Play Grading
The unmistakeable intro on 'Gimme Shelter' plays with tremendous clarity, there is just a hint of barely audible static right at the start for a couple of seconds. Hardly deserves a mention really. The opening vocal section and the following chorus accompanied by Mary Clayton plays to perfection and the mid instrumental is on the same level. The solo vocal from Clayton is flawless and the remainder is of the same high end standard including the fade out. This is easily a Mint- start to this classic album.
The delicate intro on 'Love In Vain' plays beautifully and Jagger's opening vocal section has no intrusion either. As Watts comes in the audio is just as strong and clear and it continues in the same precise way. Cooder's mandolin section plays with sublime clarity and the next vocal is just as impressive. To the end it plays with genuine quality and from start to finish I only heard 3/4 insignificant light statics so another Mint- track.
The intro on 'Country Honk' is perfect and the first vocal is equal to that. From then on it plays so clearly without any ticks, clicks or pops. Jagger's vocal has that familiar raw quality and only the odd word has a static distorted sound but seriously it is so so SO minor! I only mention it to be 100% complete with my grading and it may not be noticeable on other systems, it's barely noticeable on mine! The instrumental sections here are stunning and overall Near Mint is well deserved.
The bass intro from Richards on 'Live With Me' has just one very quiet tick and the opening vocal section is perfect. The sax solo mid instrumental is faultless and the next vocal again has no intrusion. This is the only track Richards plays bass on and the depth of sound here is very impressive. It's a 'busy' track and yet the audio separation is stunning. The powerful end section a case in point, superb sound, and once again the long fade out has no background. Mint-
'Let It Bleed' is superb from the word go. The intro is perfect and the first vocal section has no background either. It continues in much the same way - no actual interference and only a minimal amount of inner groove distortion on the vocal every now and then but again it's so minor and hardly intrusive. This is vinyl and often a little distortion is a fact of life! Just as long as it doesn't intrude on the 'listen' and it certainly doesn't here. As always I'm shooting myself in the foot by even mentioning it! The remainder plays with great quality - very strong and powerful audio with barely any distortion! A superb Near Mint version and perhaps I shouldn't even be downgrading it.

The intro on 'Midnight Rambler' plays with exceptional clarity and depth and the opening vocal section is just as strong. The first instrumental is 'as new' as is the next vocal passage and then the following instrumental where the pace picks up (with Jagger's background vocal) plays with STUNNING quality also. The quieter section plays very clearly with only a little static and the next vocal is nigh on perfect with barely any background. The closing section plays with great power and definition and with no intrusion on the audio. The vast majority here is Mint with that one brief section grading as Ex
The intro on 'You Got The Silver' plays very clearly with only very minimal light static and the beginning of the first vocal is the same. From then on it can hardly be be faulted. The mid instrumental plays with sublime clarity and the next vocal has only a couple of minor statics. The end vocal section plays with real power and depth and without any background. The opening section is Ex+ and is Mint- from then onwards.
'Monkey Man' plays with outstanding audio through every vocal and instrumental section. The intro is quiet and yet it plays with perfect clarity. From then on it plays with genuine quality - sonically it is superb and the instrumental section is a case in point, 'as new' basically. Jagger's vocal is so clean and powerful throughout and there is no distortion on the top end. With only a couple of minor statics this has to grade as Mint- at the very least.
The London Bach Choir intro on 'You Can't Always Get What You Want' has a stunning clarity of sound with no intrusion and the acoustic section is of the same standard. A couple of barely audible statics that is all. The opening vocal is close to that with a couple of light ticks and as the volume increases the playback is superb. It continues in the same way and for a final track the audio is very clear. The next piece from the Choir is perfect and as you get into the final third there is only minimal inner groove distortion but there is no other intrusion. In fact as the volume picks up towards the end the sonic quality is very impressive and I did not detect any distortion. The Choir take centre stage here of course and the audio could not be any stronger. Superb! The fade out has only very minimal static at the end so overall I will grade this classic as Near Mint-
The Cover & Inner Sleeve
The cover is in superb condition with hardly any shelf wear. The edges are pristine and the spine is close to that with only a couple of minor compressions near the top, a very minor issue. The corners are in superb condition also and the opening edge has just one tiny crimp but is otherwise perfect. The laminated front cover is stunning with no wear really - a tiny corner crease top left?! In a way the back cover is even more impressive because it isn't laminated. It is unmarked with only very slight ringwear and the mono / stereo indicator hole is in superb condition. This is a stunning example of this iconic cover and easily worth a Near Mint grade.
The blue stereo Let It Bleed inner sleeve is in excellent shape with no side splits or marking and has only minimal creasing and light wear on the top edge.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping. This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage. The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered. Any over-payment will always be refunded.
The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD). An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known. Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing. All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection. They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection. I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.
The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each. There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up! Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
