Description
Welcome to my vinyl auctions.
Over the coming months I will be listing a remarkable record collection for auction on ebay. This collection belonged to my friend Brian, one of the most discerning record collectors I have ever known. Brian started buying records in 1966 when he was a teenager. His infatuation for vinyl developed into a career and he eventually ended up working for RCA records and CBS/Sony records as a disc mastering engineer from 1977 to 1989. Brian’s not with us anymore, and I’m making good on my promise to him to sell his records in lovingly-prepared auctions which reflect the love he had for his vast LP collection. The proceeds are going to his family.
Brian’s collection is the kind that rarely comes up for sale. He had great taste in music and collected vinyl seriously for 40 years, taking superb care of his collection. To see all of Brian’s records that I currently have listed, click here.
I grade records conservatively, to ensure your satisfaction as the buyer. All LP’s will be shipped promptly in reinforced record-mailing boxes. Because of the size of this collection, I will be listing these records in sections, so you might want to bookmark my listings page and keep checking back. Also, if you want to be notified when a new block of records is listed, drop me a line with your email address.
It’s a while since I’ve listed any LPs on ebay, but for a sample of the excellent feedback I received last time I did, please follow this link.
This month I’m listing the last of Brian’s ROLLING STONES records.

Further Notes:
In 1969 The Rolling Stones were set on further reclaiming a career that drug busts (Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Brian Jones) and disintegrating personalities (Brian Jones) that were threatening to implode group. Brian was asked to leave the group, Mick Taylor was in and this LP was released with the idea of touring the United States and Canada for the first time in three years. No LP could better serve notice to the end of the sixties and it’s fabricated dream than this LP – from the opening notes of “Gimme Shelter” to the elegiac close of “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” this LP perfectly closed the decade on the twin barbs of resigned hope and impending doom. A perfect way to set up a tour that would end in the famed Altamont disaster so perfectly caught by the cameras in “Gimme Shelter”.
This pressing is the US copy and the dates on the matrix show that this was cut on both November 11, and 12 1969. If there is one thing the US pressing has over the UK one, it is slam and power…the UK has detail and the US has whomp.
Not only that, but this is an EXPORT copy as embossed into the LONDON insignia on the top right corner of the front cover.
This is a rarity as it is a first US copy and an export copy at that. The Stones would never be the same after the decade was out. This LP shows why.
The vinyl is near mint with one or two minor blemishes which do not affect play. A lovely clean copy of this 43-year-old record. Vitually no spindle marks. Truly a seldom-played copy. The sleeve has a little bit of wear to the corners, robbing it of my NM grading, but is otherwise is in fantastic shape. The printed inner sleeve is near mint, as is the poster.
Overall a beautiful copy of this classic Stones LP.
All records are cleaned on a VPI 16.5 and are ready to play – records are never playgraded until they are cleaned properly – that way an accurate grading can occur. All records are placed in new Nitty Gritty sleeves and if there is an original sleeve present it is contained in the package for completeness.
