Description
Hello and welcome to one of my auctions! I am a record collector for over 15 years now and I think it’s about time to sell a couple records to make some room and pass it on to another collector. This week’s auctions feature my Rolling Stones, Beatles (and related) and 60’s beat records that are from my own personal collection, so here we go!
On offer, an extremely rare first U.K. STEREO pressing of The Rolling Stones – Their Satanic Majesties Request on the GREEN UNBOXED Decca label, cat number TXS 103 with 3D cover. This first pressing has the rim text “ORIGINAL RECORDING BY” (later pressings have “MADE IN ENGLAND BY” and the spine text is printed upside down (later covers have this error corrected).
The record is in G (good) condition, there are many hairlines and a couple sounding scratches on both sides. The labels are in VG+ condition, there are some spindle marks and there is some very slight wear along the spindle hole on both sides.
The 3D gatefold cover is in VG+ condition, there is some light handling and storage wear and there is a name written on the inside of the gatefold. Besides mentioned imperfections, this cover looks very presentable.
The original red inner sleeve is also still present and is in VG minus condition. There is a bottom split of approx. 10 centimetres, a seam split of approx 3 centimetres and there is a tear on the opening edge of approx. 2.5 c entimetres.
Although this copy certainly has lived, this is a very rare first STEREO pressing of The Rolling Stones’ Their Satanic Majesties Request Album. This first pressing has the wrong rim text on the label (ORIGINAL RECORDING BY instead of MADE IN ENGLAND BY) and there is no speed indication of 33 printed on the label. On all later pressings these errors were corrected. This copy also has one of the very first printed covers with the text on the spine printed upside down (!). This error was also corrected on all later pressings. So, although not in mint condition, this first pressed copy of Their Satanic Majesties Request is a real must have for all Rolling Stones fans, in order to complete a life time collection!
